Male Speaker: In this video tutorial we'll show you how to use your BlackBerry as a modem. Plug the USB cable into your BlackBerry board and the other end into your computer or laptop just as shown in the video. You should not have your BlackBerry board and computer connected via the USB cable just as shown in the picture. On your BlackBerry a pop up message will appear, please select no so your BlackBerry will connect your computer via the BDM software.
Double click on your BDM software and then minimize it. The connection requires just to open for it to connect to your BlackBerry board. Click start and then select control panel. Double click on phone and modem. Click on the modem tab and then select standard modem. Now click on properties. A pop up will appear, click on change settings. Now select the advanced tab and type on that was initialization command. We have included all those for U.K. networks in our video in the useful links section. Once complete click okay and then select networking sharing center from within your control panel.
On the left hand side you click on setup a connection or network. From the pop up select the top option which should be Connect to the Internet. Now ensure you have selected no create a new connection and then click next. Now select dial-up. You may now see two modems, one will be probably be your computers modem, however you need to click on standard modem. If you don't see this option please follow our BlackBerry Desktop Manager installation video. You now need to type in the required details. Again we have included all the required information to all U.K. networks in our useful link section next to this video.
Ensure you give your connection and name such as VB connection. Once complete click connect. You'll computer will not attempt to connect to the internet via your BlackBerry mobile phone. If successful you'll see a successful internet connection message. By clicking browse the Internet this will open up the default web browser in your computer. As you can see from the connection diagram you are fully connected to the Internet. We are using Firefox and we'll visit our websites. Your reception whether you are using a 3G connection would decide on your connection speeds. It is advisable to enquire about data analysis and packages so you use this free service more frequently.
